Update May 2016

MAY 2016  PROGRESS

Things are certainly moving forward at a fast pace with other groups joining forces to keep our community clean and safe.

1st Pick Up
The first ever pick up by volunteers brought a day of rain, despite that six volunteers turned up.

School Involvement
Heaton Manor and Cragside school have groups of student volunteers who already do work locally  and have expressed an interest in working collaboratively with Paddy's Litter Pickers and other groups so that we can better co-ordinate activities.

Scouts and Girl Guides
Girl Guides based at Francis Church and the Scouts based on Cragside have also expressed an interest in collaborative working.

Council
Jimmy Patterson, President of Paddy's Litter Pickers has contacted Newcastle Council to request the return of large containers for plants. Schools, Girl Guides and Scouts have expressed an interest overseeing the planting and maintenance of the containers.

Jimmy is also attempting to contact the Park Manager based in Jesmond Dene in the hope he will become involved in the group.

Christmas Choir
Susan (as in Susan and dog Sean) has kindly offered to arrange a Choir to sing at Paddy Freeman's Park near to Christmas (date to be confirmed)

Regular Meetings
It makes sense to hold regular meetings particularly now that many groups will be working collaboratively to co-ordinate events. Heather will be leading on this as the Community Co-ordinator. Further details will be posted soon

Fun Day
A suggestion has been made to hold a fun day in Paddy's Freemans Park in 2017. This is currently being considered.  Suggestions for fun: old fashioned games such as egg and spoon race, sack race, three legged race etc

Name Change
As this group is growing and others become involved it makes sense that we change the name to incorporate the work other groups undertake outside of Paddy Freemans.  Any suggestions Welcome.

If you have any suggestions please email Jimmy Patterson, see contact details section.
